Stout Gear products carry safety certifications from;
American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is responsible for developing the American National Standards(ANS), and advocates for those U.S. standards at the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as the sole representative for the U.S.
ASTM International (ASTM) - Formerly the American Society for Testing and Materials, ASTM is a globally recognized leader in the development and delivery of voluntary consensus standards.
International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) is the leading resource for personal protective equipment standards, industry insights, and product recommendations. ISEA standards help protect over 125 million workers in the U.S.
European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is one of three European Standardization Organizations (together with CENELEC and ETSI) that have been officially recognized by the European Union and by the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) as being responsible for developing and defining voluntary standards at European level.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is an independent non-profit standards development organization committed to advancing safety. The primary purpose of NFPA codes and standards is to help protect people, property, businesses, and communities by establishing minimum safety requirements that reduce risk from fire, electrical, and other related hazards. NFPA standards address a wide range of critical safety topics.
UL Solutions (UL) helps companies to demonstrate safety, enhance sustainability, strengthen security, deliver quality, manage risk and achieve regulatory compliance. Their services include certification of personnel, products, facilities, processes and systems to applicable standards and requirements.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
North American Standard (ANSI/ISEA 105-2016) is the American National Standard for Hand Protection Classification for the testing and classification of hand protection properties based on standardized testing methods. ANSI sets standards related to mechanical properties such as; cut, puncture, abrasion, impact, and tear resistance. In 2021, the ISEA’s hand protection committee revised the ANSI/ISEA 105 standard to include standardized product markings. The new ANSI/ISEA 105 standard marking is shaped like a home plate and indicates the resistance levels of key mechanical properties.
European Standard (EN 388: 2016+A1 2018) is similar to ANSI/ISEA 105, is the European standard for the classification of hand protection related to mechanical properties. Between 2016-2018, EN 388 was updated from a 4 to a 6 digit rating system.
Impact Standard (ANSI/ISEA 138-2019) In 2019, the ANSI/ISEA 138-2019 Impact Resistant Glove Standard was developed to better classify the impact resistance of gloves. ANSI ISEA 138-2019 measures three levels of impact protection (1-3).
ASTM F1506 is the standard performance specification for flame resistant and electric arc rated protective clothing worn by workers exposed to flames and electric arcs.
NFPA 70E is the Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace®. It outlines requirements for safe work practices to protect personnel by reducing exposure to major electrical hazards. Originally developed at OSHA’s request, NFPA 70E helps companies and employees avoid workplace injuries and fatalities due to shock, electrocution, arc flash, and arc blast, and assists in complying with OSHA 1910 Subpart S and OSHA 1926 Subpart K.
NFPA 2112 is the Standard on Flame-Resistant Clothing for Protection of Industrial Personnel Against Short-Duration Thermal Exposures from Fire®. NFPA 2112 specifies the minimum performance requirements and test methods for flame-resistant fabrics and components and the design and certification requirements for garments for use in areas at risk from flash fires. It establishes specific criteria for testing garments using the ASTM F1930 test method and the ASTM D6413 test method.
ANSI Z87.1-2020 is American national standard that is used for occupational and educational personal eye and face protection devices used for safety glasses, safety goggles, side shields, and other eye and face protection devices.
